The family allowed me to catch one stage of the Tour of Utah featuring to Tour de France riders (Dave Z. and Floyd Landis). Fun to watch but the boys were better entertainment.
Taking the boys on the hike can be a bit unpredictable. On this day Nick decided hiking wasn’t for him.
We headed out to get some pictures of the boys at Memory Grove. Just over 10 years ago Stacey and I had our wedding reception here in the park.
The snow hadn’t melted enough to get to our intended destination of Cecret Lake so we ended up playing in the lower portion of Little Cottonwood Canyon and having lunch in a nearby park.
The boys of the house (minus Simon) headed out for a chilly night of camping with other dads of the congregation.
The only female of the house was caught saying:
“I’m always cold unless I’m like warm.”
Nick was excited this morning as he looked out of the kitchen window while chowin’ down on some breakfast.
“Dad, all the leaves fell off the trees.”
I responded “Good” thinking that now I can finally get all the leaves cleaned up for the year. Nick then said…
“We’re going to have to grow a new tree.”
Stacey and I both asked why?
“Their sad.”
We couldn’t ruin his reality and let him proceed with his version of Fall.
The boys were watching the DVD player in the minivan while we were driving through the beautiful tree covered Oregon coastal area. Wanting to make sure their brains didn’t become complete mush I killed the power to the movies. Instantly the boys threw a fit so we told them the DVD player had broken to which Andrew said…
“I think the trees are blocking the electricity from getting to our car.”
He’s six so we went with that justification for why the DVD player would work again someday.
